BREAKING: Trump’s Temu “Triumphal Arch” Is Literally Cracking Apart on the National Mall
Trump’s big patriotic showpiece is falling apart in front of the whole country.
The miniature replica of Trump’s proposed Triumphal Arch, one of the main attractions at his Great American State Fair on the National Mall, is now riddled with cracks after a rushed facelift meant to save it from public ridicule.
Visitors had already mocked the arch for looking “plastic,” with some dubbing it the “Temu arch” after the budget shopping site. The white vinyl covering was spotted wrinkling and peeling away from the wooden frame just days after the fair opened.
Organizers scrambled to add new Corinthian-style columns and molding on Tuesday. By Wednesday, Reuters photos showed serious cracks in the brand new molding, with yellow expanding foam oozing out of the structure and melting down the sides in the heat. One crack had no foam in it at all.
Former CNN correspondent Jim Acosta filmed the “shoddy construction” up close, showing the base of the arch floating inches above the ground and faux columns on a nearby pavilion hanging two to three feet short of ever touching it.
Instead of addressing any of it, a spokesperson for fair organizer Freedom 250 attacked the press for covering the story, telling The Daily Beast to “stop writing nonsense articles” and insisting the emergency columns were “always planned.”
The fair has also been plagued by empty stretches of the Mall and poor attendance that even Trump’s own supporters have called out, all while a record heatwave pushing 115 degrees bears down on the July 4 weekend, when Trump has promised to return and deliver “a really long speech.”
The arch was supposed to be a monument to Trump’s greatness. Instead it’s a plywood shell held together with expanding foam, cracking apart in the summer sun for everyone to see.
